Has it been a week already for Sports Night Glee Week? Goodness! I hope you guys have enjoyed the activities! Feel free to continue to play with them (I know I'm going to try to since my week was hijacked by work) for as long as you want! The community will remain open, just no new activities.

But before that, one last thing...

Keep Sports Night's Fandom Alive

This is a place for all of us to do some brainstorming and sharing ideas for ways to keep the fandom alive. Got an idea? Post it here.

Note: phoebesmum was awesome and made a list of Sports Night communities that she knew of, so check it out and let me know if something is missing.

I'd just like to take a moment to thank everyone who participated in Sports Night Chat: The Revenge yesterday, especially those of you who dragged yourselves away from Canada to come play in New York. We had a small yet hardy band of chatters, some of whom have greater stamina than I, and there was much squee, consumption of pizza and fish and chips (and fruit and brie), and the formulation of some truly bizarre OTPs. Thank's to phobesmum the full transcript is available, so if anyone would like a copy email me off list and I'll send it to you.

If you missed out this time around, the next chat has been tentatively scheduled for January 2008. In the mean time, you've been watching Sports Night on CSC, so stick around!

Sorry this is late, several RL events seem to be conspiring against me at the moment.

Sports Night Chat: The Revenge is about to start. Comment here with your AIM user name for an invite into the chat room. The name of the room is sportsnightchat.

ETA: LJ is having some downtime very soon, so if you want to get onto the chat email me directly at laylee [at] livejournal [dot] com

hey guys! I'm sorry I haven't been around that much. Work chose now to get busy, but I'm hoping to spend sometime today and over the weekend enjoy glee week with the rest of you.

1) Tomorrow is the Viewing Party that the awesome laylee is running, but would anyone be interested in just a random chat tonight or on Sunday? If there is enough interest, I'll set something up.

2) I've been asked if people can continue playing after Glee Week is over and the answer is: Most Definitely! There won't be any new activities, but feel free to continue playing with the existing ones for as long as you like. I don't think any of us would mind more wonderful Sports Night creations!

Sports Night Rec-Away Day

today's glee week activity is all about reccing your favorite things within the fandom. Share with us your favorite Sports Night website, your favorite place to get screencaps, your favorite stories, etc.

You can just post one in a comment or you can take on a theme (i.e. My Five Favorite Dan/Casey First Kiss Stories).

Also feel free to ask for recs on a theme (i.e. where can I find great SN icons?) and people can respond.

So go crazy with reccing one another! Share with us that unknown writer that you feel shouldn't be unknown!

The Sports Night Missing Scene Challenge

This challenge is open to both art and fiction. The fic can be as short/long as you want it to be. If it turns out too long to fit into the comments, just link us to the post.

Basically, take any of the Sports Night episodes and write/draw that scene that you always felt was missing. Like what happened after Dan and Casey made up? Or did Casey finally get cool lessons from Dan?

Here is your chance to fill in the blanks on anything you thought was missing from the canon and to share it with us.

Note: If you're looking for a list of episodes, they're posted here for a different activity.

Sports Night Meta Madness

This is the place for all those thinky thoughts about Sports Night. Want to discuss the meaning behind the titles of episodes? Want to do character break-downs? Want to discuss how Sorkin portrays women in television?

That all goes here.

Sorry for the delay in getting started today. Work has been insane. iamtheenemy is working on a trivia contest that she hopes to get up later today as well.

Anyway, onto today's fun activities!

Summarize Sports Night

What is this you ask? It's a little game I came up with where you pick one of the episodes and you summarize it in one sentence, one bit of dialogue, or with one screen cap (even a mixture of both - picture with a caption).

You don't have to claim an episode. There can be a bunch for the same episode. It's all about creativity and what you take away from an episode. Make it funny, make it slashy, make it a bit of dialogue, make it whatever you want...just try to sum up the episode.

list of season one episodes...Collapse )

list of season two episodes...Collapse )

So for example, I could take The Apology amd offer this as my summation:

Casey: There is a perception in the press, never more clear than in this article, that I'm not cool. Now where do you suppose that perception comes from?
Dana: I think it comes from reality.

So get to it!

Where Are They Now?

This is the place to post about what our favorite Sports Night cast are up to now.

For Example:

- Felicity Huffman was nominated for an Oscar and can be seen every Sunday night on Desperate Housewives.

- Peter Krause was on Six Feet Under and in that Sci Fi mini-series a few months ago.

Any discussion of the cast's other projects would go here.

The Sports Night Drabble Tree

A few weeks ago slodwick ran a Supernatural drabble tree at her journal and I thought, "that is brilliant." So low and behold...the first writing challenge for Glee Week is a Sports Night Drabble Tree.

A drabble is a story in 100 words, no less, no more.

In a drabble tree, one person (will start the tree with a drabble, and people will reply to that drabble with their own, and people will reply to those drabbles with their own, etc. creating branches.

You must use a word or a phrase or a sentence from the drabble you're branching from, but you are not required to create "sequels"; your drabble can be a completely different mood/style/pairing/etc.

Anyone is welcome to play. And there are no restrictions on content. You can play as many times as you like, but please post each drabble separately, even if they're in response to the same original drabble.

The drabble to get us started...Collapse )
